Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a MERIT Support Coordinator. This is a full time position working Monday to Friday with a commitment to join the existing on call loggist team.

The NWAS MERIT Coordinator (MSC) is essential in ensuring the operational readiness and strategic delivery of the Medical Emergency Response Incident Team (MERIT). The role involves delivering high-quality administrative, operational, and project support to the MERIT Manager and the Head of Special Operations. The MSC will manage staff rosters, coordinate resources, ensure compliance with training requirements, oversee procurement, and contribute to quality improvement and research initiatives, all while upholding the Trust's values of inclusivity, collaboration, and excellence.

The role demands excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on meeting the needs of the team and ensuring alignment with organisational policies and procedures.

Working with the MERIT Manager, the MERIT support coordinator will coordinate and allocate roster positions to ensure 24hr on call cover is provided. The MERIT Support Coordinator will support the allocation of training, helping to organise appropriate venues across the North West. With a responsibility for ensuring timely payment, the MERIT Support Coordinator will work to populate expenses, input time sheets and organise pay.

The role provides a comprehensive project and administrative support function to the MERIT Manager with a requirement to monitor financial activities associated with the delivery of MERIT, use effective systems to provide complex information/reports in a timely manner and to deal with a range of queries relating to the activities of the MERIT team.

The successful applicant will join a team committed to providing the best possible response to major and critical incident working and to enable the Trust to meet its requirements around NHS Interoperability Core Standards.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
