Summary
Location: Birmingham - Hybrid, which includes every Wednesday in the Office
Initial 3-Month Contract
Hays is working in partnership with a local council to recruit a Project Accountant to support a range of WMCA Group capital projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional with strong project accounting experience to make a meaningful impact in a public sector setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality project accounting services across multiple capital projects.
- Support project managers in managing financial resources effectively.
- Lead efficient month-end accounting and forecasting activities.
- Assist in the development and coordination of robust annual capital budget proposals.
- Monitor and control capital budgets and funding to ensure financial integrity.
- Review month-end positions in line with agreed timetables.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant grant and funding conditions.
- Provide financial advice and prepare written financial implications for formal reports, in collaboration with the Strategic Finance Business Partner.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in project accounting, ideally within the public sector.
- Strong understanding of capital budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
