If you would like to work in a Facilities Team and have a passion for the natural environment this is an exciting opportunity for you. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Facilities Officer to come join us in our Monitoring Laboratory based in Leeds. You will assist with the daily operation of the Olympia House site.
Your main duties will include: -
• Work as part of a team to complete front of house Facilities tasks – receiving deliveries, visitors and Permits to Work etc.
• Assist with the resolution of building breakdowns and repairs e.g. heating, water, gas, security and safety critical laboratory equipment such as local exhaust ventilation and oxygen depletion sensors
• Use your interpersonal skills to assist with the management of local contracts such as M&E maintenance and cleaning.
• Provide the delivery of environmental management tasks and routine compliance checks.
• Assist with the planning and delivery of large Capital Expenditure Projects.
• Promote health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring the provision of safe working practices in line with Environment Agency guidance.
• Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training, and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

You’ll be working within a small Facilities team alongside approximately 65 Analytical staff and 12 Customer Services colleagues. We provide analytical services to the Environment Agency and external customers which includes the analysis of sediments, soils, biota and waters from across England and around the coastline, as well as offering a bespoke Forensic Waste Service.
