Under the direction of the Head Janitor, the Janitor will be responsible for:

  • The security of the premises and its contents, including the operation of fire and security systems and keyholding responsibilities. This will involve patrolling all areas of the premises and playgrounds.
  • The lighting and heating within the premises, including maintenance and operation of heating plant where required, replacing light bulbs and tubes, etc.

Bell's Brae Primary School is a non-denominational school located in central Lerwick. It consists of a Primary, an Early Learning and Childcare Setting and an ASN department. The school catchment area is from Frakkafield encompassing the majority of Lerwick, excluding Sound. There is currently a total of 300 pupils on the roll. The school is managed by Mrs Julia McGinlay, Head Teacher and 3 Depute Head Teachers. The current staffing complement is 21 teachers assisted by support staff, as required, to meet school demands.   • Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance £1.4808 per hour
  • Permanent Part Time post for 22.2 Hours per Week , 52.18 weeks per year
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post
