Summary


The Research Nurse/Trials Practitioner will be a member of the Cambridge Cancer Trials Team working in the Haematology trials team. The post-holder will work closely with the health care teams associated with the multidisciplinary team, primarily in Multiple Myeloma. This will include the CNS team as well as the Haematology consultants.

The key responsibilities are to help to identify patients eligible for clinical trials and attending a weekly MDT meeting; provide information and support for patients entering clinical trials; co-ordinate trial patient treatment, assessment, follow-up and data collection according to specific clinical trial protocols. This will include close liaison with relevant staff in respective departments including the Research Facilities, Haematology Day Unit, Radiotherapy, Pharmacy, Radiology, Outpatients and the Haematology/Transplant ward teams, Research & Development and Ethics departments.

The post holder is responsible for the provision of high quality, patient focused clinical research for the Haematology Trials Team

Responsible for identifying eligible clinical research participants, provision of information and support to patients/participants, study recruitment and consent, co-ordination of study treatment/ interventions, assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care and data collection according to study protocols in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials legislation and the NHS research governance framework.

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to Haematology Trials patients and liaising with other staff.

The Portfolio comprises Multiple Myeloma, Acute Myeloblastic Leukaemia and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, Bone Marrow Transplant, Myelodysplastic Disorder and Myeloproliferative Neoplasm, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia.
