Summary
A personal assistant is required to support a fourteen-year-old autistic boy with ADHD and Tourette’s Syndrome, based in Falmouth.
He is looking for someone with whom he can build a positive and trusting relationship, and who can provide 1:1 support to help him engage in local community activities and develop his independence.
He is very chatty and sociable, with a keen interest in exploring new activities and clubs. He requires some adult supervision to help him navigate social cues effectively.
He has expressed an interest in Airsoft and the Air Cadets. He is also an avid gamer, and gaming is his favourite topic of conversation.
The rate of pay is £12.60 per hour, with the potential for a higher rate depending on experience and relevant skills.
There are three hours per week available, with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate’s availability. Some weekend and school holiday availability will be required.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support a young person in building confidence, gaining independence, and making meaningful progress in their life.
Experience supporting young people on the autism spectrum would be a distinct advantage. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
