Summary
Job Description Healthcare Assistant (Inpatient) Band 3 Equivalent Reports to Team Leader Band 3 equivalent we also allow for unsocial hour supplements Role Purpose Under the direction of a registered professional, participate in the development and delivery of high-quality, compassionate patient care through involvement in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Role Context This role requires an individual with the ability to work effectively under the direction and leadership of registered professionals, supporting people with palliative and end-of-life care needs. The post holder will provide safe, person-centred care to patients within the inpatient unit at Bassetlaw Hospice, ensuring dignity, respect, and comfort at all times. Key AccountabilitiesClinical Practice Assist with all activities of daily living, addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients. Undertake, record and report clinical observations as directed by registered professionals. Support treatment and activities for patients within the inpatient environment. Maintain accurate, timely and relevant clinical records, both written and electronic. Promote maximum independence and dignity for patients. To help them achieve reasonable and achievable goals Undertake any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role. Performance Measures: Care delivered in accordance with hospice policies, procedures, and CQC standards. Accurate and timely record-keeping. Adherence to infection prevention and control and safeguarding requirements. Must have experience in care Palliative experience is desirable Safeguarding All staff are responsible for ensuring that risks of harm to children and vulnerable adults are minimised. Concerns must be addressed in line with hospice safeguarding policies and local multi-agency procedures. Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) This role requires an enhanced DBS check at the point of recruitment and periodically thereafter. Infection Prevention and Control All employees must follow hospice infection prevention and control procedures and undertake mandatory training. Data Quality Accurate and timely record-keeping is essential for safe care delivery and effective decision-making. Communication Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients and families, using tact, reassurance and compassion. Analytical and Judgement Skills Recognise variances in a patients condition and report promptly to a registered professional. Planning and Organisational Skills Organise day-to-day work activities to deliver care within patient care plans. Physical and Emotional Effort Frequent requirement to exert moderate physical effort and exposure to distressing circumstances due to nature of end-of-life care.
