Summary
Role Objective
Effective management and co-ordination of the quality assurance team, so that:
all raw materials, work in progress and finished products meet all safety, quality, authenticity and legal requirements - before despatch to the customer the site is operating to good manufacturing standards (GMP) at all times.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Handling of day-to-day quality, food safety, authenticity and legal issues
Ensuring that customer and site product specifications are consistently met for all products during every production run. (on-line observations, completing audits/inspections, running product assessment panels, reviewing production records)
Co-ordinating the work of the QAs so allocated tasks are completed and can be completed to the standard required
Providing cover for the Quality Assurance Manager during periods of absence
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Food manufacturing experience is essential
- Minimum training received: HACCP L2, Food Safety L2
- Shows a basic understanding of HACCP, food safety, microbiology, weight legislation, allergen management
- Has experience of managing raw materials and finished product quality
- Has conducted internal audits, raised and closed out non-conformances
- Able to use computer programmes, including Word, Excel, customer portals
- Understands technical KPIs and other performance measures – and how these can be improved
- Knows how to identify and solve the root causes of issues
- Has experience of implementing process and procedures relating to product quality and safety
