Summary

Barnardo's Northern Lights is a beautiful home on the outskirts of Inverness providing a safe, warm and supportive environment for up to five young people who have had adverse childhood experiences.

The service seeks to improve the lives of these young people through the use of a rights based, trauma informed approach. Staff seek to enrich the lives of young people placed with us through support and activities aimed at raising self-esteem, promoting mastery and enabling the young people to have childhood experiences in line with their age and stage of development. The service also works alongside the Local Authority in promoting education.

As and when workers play a fundamental role in supporting our team. Work is offered on a casual basis to provide cover during staff absence and/or particularly busy periods. Cover will generally be arranged in advance however there may be occasions where this is short notice. Shift patterns are based on 12 hours per day with occasional sleepover shifts. There is an additional payment for sleepovers.

You will be asked to specify your availability within discussion at interview.

Ideally you will have experience of direct work with children and young people and will hold or be willing to work towards a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above (for example SVQ3 children and young people plus an HNC in social services)
