Summary
A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are looking for a Stroke Physiotherapist to join our therapy team.
This is a full-time post, working 30.5 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the therapy seven-day working rota on a 1:6 basis, with compensatory rest days provided in the following week, as well as contribute to the on-call service.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with stroke patients and will be involved in providing physiotherapy to inpatients as well as supporting outpatient clinics in close collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
We offer training opportunities to help you develop your specialist skills in line with your Personal Development Review, as well as leadership training opportunities and access to externally funded courses.
The stroke team is friendly and dynamic, that always strives to provide the highest quality of therapeutic intervention to their patients.
The team are currently working towards regaining their team’s ‘A’ rated status on national SSNAP targets (at present we are rate a “C” with the new metrics) and success in integrated working on Stroke patient pathways to achieve CQUIN targets.
We are focussed on delivery high quality and effective therapeutic intervention to the Stroke population at Watford General and look to do so via both group and personalised interventions.
The team is supported by two band 7 Physiotherapists, alongside other static band 6 stroke Physiotherapists and so teaching, peer support and development are readily available. The team work very closely with their OT colleagues taking a collaborative approach as well as having strong links to the wider MDT.
With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.

Therapeutic intervention will be carried out either via independent sessions, joint sessions within therapy/ MDT or in a group setting depending on the patients needs.
Applicants will need to be confident in their ability to work collaboratively within therapy services and amongst the wider MDT team.
The post holder would also have a role in supporting the service training programme for developing competence of staff in managing acute stroke patients.
