Summary
What’s the purpose of role:
To be an active team member, ensuring that all work is complete according to Daily Work Schedule and that all information received is communicated to the right people in a timely manner and all Compliance standards met. To be actively involved and maintain an effective and productive team which focuses achievement on results and develops and sustains effective customer relationships.
Who you’ll deal with:
Internal:Bond Manager, other Shift Leaders, Bond and Flight employees, other units, Central Services Team at Glasgow, support functions, Operation / General Manager.
External:Airlines, HMC&E, CAA, auditors, contractors
What you’ll be doing:
- To ensure work is completed according to daily work schedule and all costs are within agreed targets
- Ensuring the work schedule is maintained by shift taking effective corrective action as required highlighting on-going issues to the appropriate Shift Leader/Team Manager
- Manage the roster effectively on a shift basis to ensure the schedule is maintained remaining mindful of costs
- Ensure team members carry out duties in line with work schedule
- Ensure standards of external and internal customer service are met
- Dealing with all issues or customer requests in a timely manner, escalating any matters which cannot be resolved to the relevant manager
- Adhering to all legislation, company policy and customer requirements ensuring team members follow agreed procedures
- Carrying out daily Compliance checks, appropriately communicating any issues
- Carrying out daily PI count and investigating any resulting stock variances
- Ensure housekeeping duties are being undertaken by team members
- Ensuring safe working practices are maintained at all times including: Use of Personal Protective Equipment, Correct Manual Handling techniques, Use of equipment
- Be familiar with all fire procedures within unit compliant with fire training
- Adhering to and ensure security regulations and procedures are being followed
- Ensure team members follow all agreed processes and procedures
- Ensuring effective handover with colleagues to ensure issues are dealt with effectively
- Ensure training needs are identified and highlighted to the relevant Shift Leader and Team Manager
- Taking initial appropriate action in the event of non conformance, communicating issues and concerns to the team manager on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Carrying out daily and weekly team briefings to ensure issues raised are communicated to your manager

What you’ll have:
- People management skills, e.g. dealing with performance issues, grievances, holidays, and absence management
- Basic computer skills; Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Ability to plan, organise and delegate
- Possess a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Communication Skills – must be able to communicate at all levels
- An understanding of health and safety regulations in relation to operations
- An understanding of Operational Management Systems
- Possess a methodical and logical approach to work
- Current Airline Security knowledge

What’s Special about the role:
The main focus of the role of Shift Leader is to effectively organise resources to deliver the required activity each shift. Direction and guidance is easily accessible via the line manager. No direct budget management but requires people management on a shift by shift basis. Decision making is based on previous experience working within standard parameters highlighting any concerns to be addressed by a manager. Will be required to interact with the team, colleagues from other process areas, auditors, Suppliers and customers.
