Summary
Owen Payne Recruitment are currently seeking a skilled and experienced HGV and Van Mechanic to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, service, and repair of a fleet of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and light commercial vans, ensuring they remain roadworthy, safe, and compliant with all relevant legislation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to work within a fast-paced and supportive environment where quality and reliability are paramount. This role will be Temp to Perm for the right candidate!
Shifts:
• Monday to Friday - 8:30 AM till 5:00 PM
Rate of pay:
• £14.00-£15.00 per hour
• Pay based on experience and skill level
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on HGVs and vans
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
• Repair or replace defective parts, including brakes, gearboxes, suspension, and steering systems
• Carry out pre-MOT checks and prepare vehicles for MOT inspections
• Complete repair and service documentation accurately and efficiently
• Ensure all vehicles meet DVSA and company safety standards
• Attend breakdowns or roadside assistance (if required)
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
• Liaise with fleet managers or drivers regarding vehicle condition and required repairs
• Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and company policies
• Any additional duties as and when required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Proven experience as a Vehicle Mechanic, preferably with both HGVs and vans
• Good understanding of vehicle diagnostics and electrical systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Full UK Driving Licence (desirable but not essential)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
