LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer)
Full Time – 37 hours per week
Fully remote working
Initial 4 month contract
The candidate MUST already be working as a LADO or have extensive recent experience. The candidate will need to hit the ground running.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service for a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). This is a statutory role in the management and coordination of allegations against people working with children.
As an experienced social worker in safeguarding children you will be working within a team to ensure that allegations are dealt with in a timely manner that is robust and fair with positive and effective working with all stakeholders and partner agencies.
Main Responsibilities
The LADO provides advice and guidance to employers, individuals and organisations who have concerns relating to adults who work with children in a paid or voluntary capacity where their behaviour may have harmed a child or otherwise suggests they are unsuitable to work with children. The role is defined in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2013) in respect of people in positions of trust.
The Ideal Candidate:
As an experienced social worker, to apply for this role you must have:
· A social work degree and be Social Work England (SWE) registered.
· Post qualifying social work experience in children’s safeguarding.
Knowledge of the LADO role and underpinning legislation and guidance.
· Knowledge and skills in management of risk.
· Experience of multi-agency working with the ability to scrutinise and challenge.
