Summary


We are seeking an experienced, efficient, and self- motivated Support Manager to join our team within Clinical Support and Specialist Surgery.

The Support Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth running of the Surgical Administration team and support the Access and Administration Manager.

The post holder will need to have a good general knowledge and skills of a clinical speciality as this is a complex role. The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and knowledge of patient cancer pathways, advising, and providing support to ensure RTT is correctly managed and recorded for assurance at PTL.

Work collaboratively alongside the Access and Administration Manager to ensure administrative processes support wider organisational objectives have objectives and key performance indicators in place, and mechanisms to provide evidence of compliance and performance.

This is busy role so you must have the ability to prioritise your workload to effectively complete tasks and communicate with both staff and patients at all levels. The post holder must be able to work well under pressure.

Full-time 37.5 Hours, FIXED TERM FOR 12 MONTHS

Working on own initiative to monitor the workload of the secretariat to ensure the smooth running of the service by prioritising the workload with staff.

Prioritise the workload of the secretariat to ensure urgent work is completed timely within very tight cancer timescales



Proactively manage the efficiency of all systems, dealing with problems as they arise, immediately alerting others to difficulties and inefficiencies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES



Working on own initiative to monitor the workload of the secretariat to ensure the smooth running of the service by prioritising the workload with staff.



Work collaboratively alongside the Access and Administration Manager to ensure administrative processes support wider organisational objectives.



Prioritise the workload of the secretariat to ensure urgent work is completed timely within very tight cancer timescales



Proactively manage the efficiency of all systems, dealing with problems as they arise, immediately alerting others to difficulties and inefficiencies.



Identify training needs for the team training plan, monitor compliance with team plan.



Required knowledge and understanding of local and national standards and policies.



Support management in collating statistics and data, in order to demonstrate compliance of KPI’s within immediate teams.



Support in the completion of HR processes and PDR’s, highlighting any concerns to Access and Administration Manager.



Support in the recruitment, induction and training for staff within the function.



Take and transcribe minutes at meetings as required.





MANAGERIAL/LEADERSHIP



Support the Access and Administration Manager, deputising for them during absence.



Support in the supervision of strong, supportive, engaging and visible leadership within the secretariat



Record and Monitor staff absence, sickness, annual leave and keep the the Access and Administration Manager informed



Ensure all teams have objectives and key performance indicators in place, and mechanisms to provide evidence of compliance and performance.



Work with Assistant Service Manager to review operational processes



Financial signatory for approvals and up to agreed financial limit, ensuring accuracy and scrutiny of approval to support cost effective delivery of services.



Support the Access and Administration Manager to governance is managed in accordance with Trust policy



PROFESSIONAL



Undertake required professional certification / accreditation and continued professional development to maintain knowledge and understanding within areas of responsibility and maintain working knowledge of standards required to be implemented.
