Our client, a respected name in the East Anglian distribution sector, is seeking a dedicated and compliance-focused individual to lead their local collections strategy.
This is a crucial role where your planning skills directly impact customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
The Role: What You'll Be DoingAs the Local Collections Traffic Planner, you will be the operational backbone of the collections department, ensuring seamless service delivery and strict adherence to road transport law.
•
Collections Ownership: Take overall responsibility for coordinating all customer collections using both the internal fleet and external sub-contractors.
•
Dynamic Routing: Manage, adjust, and release local delivery runs, acting as the primary operational point of contact during peak times.
•
Compliance & Fleet Management: Proactively manage Driver CPC, Working Time Directive (WTD), vehicle allocation, load safety, and weights within the Operator’s Licence limitations.
•
Performance Driver: Ensure all collections achieve On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery targets, providing essential feedback to sales and customer service.
•
Team Communication: Act as the clear link between local drivers, trunk drivers, agency staff, and the warehouse team.
•
Leadership: Use your firm-but-fair attitude and leadership skills to manage and support the driving team effectively.
Essential Candidate Profile
•
Proven Leadership and line management skills within a fast-paced transport environment.
•
Comprehensive knowledge and practical application of UK road haulage legislation (Tachograph, WTD, etc.) is mandatory.
•
Exceptional IT skills and a systems-based approach to planning.
•
Ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving and tactical decision-making skills under pressure.
•
Self-motivated, resourceful, and committed to continuous improvement.
