Summary


Medicines Management Assistant (Intensive Care Unit)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic team member, working at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician, with good communication and teamwork skills to carry out a medicines management and optimisation role on our busy Intensive Care Unit. You will need excellent organisational skills in order to undertake this role and be able to work accurately and quickly under pressure, have a good eye for detail, be able to prioritise your workload, meet deadlines and be committed to the delivery of high standards in a patient focused service.

Applicants must be reliable, adaptable to change, capable of working in a busy environment and have excellent people skills to be able to communicate with a large range of healthcare professionals, patients and their relatives.

This is an exciting role and service that you will be able to develop, working as part of the Critical Care pharmacy team, alongside the pharmacists and a medicines management assistant. Your role will involve carrying out patient medication histories, managing and ordering medications and ward stock lists, assisting with audits, providing advice to ward-based staff and counselling patients.

You will gain experience of critical care ward-based medicines management as well as assisting with dispensary work, clinical trials and mentoring.

If you do not have the required experience / qualifications to meet the Band 5 position, you will be appointed to Band 4 Pharmacy Technician, and be supported to achieve the qualifications and experience required to progress to a Band 5 post. There will be a requirement to participate in a 7 day working pattern, this will include working extended hours, late nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
