Summary

A great opportunity has become available working within a UK consortium to deliver the high-profile UK Agricultural Greenhouse Gas & Ammonia Inventory. The Inventory is a constantly evolving model. It requires updating with scientific and other literature, new farming practices, agricultural policy and new and novel agricultural greenhouse gas and air pollution mitigation strategies.

This role involves:

Acting as a key contact for the dairy, pig, poultry, minor livestock and other organic materials sectors.
Fulfilling mandatory reporting requirements under local and international agreements on behalf of the inventory consortium.
Liaising with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that the inventory best reflects past, present and future agricultural practices and policies.
Do you have an eye for detail?

Can you follow strict quality assurance and control procedures?

Are you able to present in a clear and concise manner?

This could be the perfect role for you!

An aptitude for learning new software is needed to apply specialised inventory software for reporting and projections of emissions.

There is also the chance to work on other projects relevant to mitigating greenhouse gas and air pollutant sources from agriculture. This could vary from scenario development and modelling to measuring emissions in the field.

The post will be at postdoc level (Grade D), which would suit a scientific specialist or a postdoctoral scientist. The post is offered on a part-time basis (approximately 30 hours per week) with potential for full time. The post will be located at the North Wyke site of Rothamsted Research, in Devon for 32 months starting in January 2026.
