Summary
Clinical Leadership and Service Development Act as Clinical Lead for Pain Management, providing strategic direction and oversight for the service. Lead service redesign initiatives including triage, chronic post-operative pain pathways, and integrated pain clinics. Align pain service delivery with NICE guidance, Faculty of Pain Medicine standards, and Trust strategy. Develop innovative, outcome-focused care pathways across surgical and non-surgical patient groups. Represent the Pain Service within Unit, Trust and ICB governance and planning forums. Clinical Responsibilities Deliver outpatient pain clinics and interventional lists (e.g. radiofrequency denervation, nerve blocks, spinal injections). Provide specialist input into perioperative and complex rehabilitation pain management. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and joint assessment clinics. Option to contribute to the anaesthetic rota (dependent on role configuration and candidate preference). Education and Teaching Contribute to undergraduate, foundation, and postgraduate medical education. Lead or support teaching of anaesthetic trainees, physiotherapists, nurses, and allied professionals. Develop and deliver in-house and regional training modules on pain medicine and interventional techniques. Research and Quality Improvement Collaborate with RJAHs Research & Innovation Department to deliver clinical research, audits, and service evaluations. Support academic activity within the MDT, including supervision of audits, QI projects, and support for publication. Encourage innovation and evidence-based development of pain management techniques and patient-reported outcomes.
