Summary

Sunderland City Council is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Regulatory Compliance Officer to work in the Trading Standards Section of Public Protection and Regulatory Services to assist in the delivery of a modern consumer protection service that focuses on using resources in an efficient and targeted way. We are striving to ensure Sunderland is a compliant and safe place in which to live, work, visit and do business.



The successful applicant will carry out enforcement duties relating to various Trading Standards legislation, including fair trading, product safety, age-restricted products and animal health and welfare.



The successful applicant will have a positive andlsquo;can doandrsquo; attitude and demonstrable experience of criminal law enforcement in a comparable public sector organisation. They will have the personal skills needed for successful proactive engagement with businesses, consumers and partner agencies and able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team. Experience in conducting investigations and compiling prosecution reports is expected and a solid understanding of the regulatory framework that Trading Standards must operate within (e.g RIPA, PACE and CPIA) is advantageous.

Normal working week Monday to Friday, with occasional working required outside normal hours.
