Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established two-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port as they will be needing 1:1 support for a pupil with an EHCP that will be joining the year 1 class in November. This is an extremely supportive school that has a child with a mixed cerebral palsy, mobility and non-verbal diagnosis joining the school.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a year 1 pupil with a mixed cerebral palsy, mobility and non-verbal diagnosis on a 1:1 basis. You will act as their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate, walking them back to their grown-up(s) at the end of the day, and acting as their advocate. This is an extremely loving and happy pupil who unfortunately, is not able to access the curriculum due to their needs. With the school being extremely inclusive, this school is supported in a year 1 class rather than a resource provision. As they are not working at the curriculum, their learning will be delivered in a pupil-led manner, delivering aspects of the curriculum that they show interest in. They are non-verbal but do use facial expressions and noise to communicate and have been described as an effective communicator. Due to their needs, they will need assistance with personal care.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, extensive experience supporting complex needs, and:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEN (cerebral palsy is preferred)
  • Be able to commit to a full-time long-term contract consisting of 32.5 hours per week
  • Be comfortable completing personal care requirements

What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits, that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Long-term contract
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Company pension scheme
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
