About the Role

My client, a well-established contractor in the region, is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who is looking to develop their career within a supportive environment while working on exciting residential-led projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in conversion schemes, primarily transforming office spaces into high-quality residential flats, as well as supporting wider residential projects across Suffolk.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, cost plans, and valuations.

  • Support the commercial team with procurement, tendering, and subcontractor management.

  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, variations, and ensure commercial compliance.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and cost analysis.

  • Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors.

  • Assist in preparing final accounts and project handovers.

    Requirements
    • Currently studying Quantity Surveying and in at least your final year of university (or recently graduated).

    • Experience working on residential flats, ideally through placements, internships, or previous roles.

    • Knowledge or exposure to office-to-residential conversion projects is highly desirable.

    • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.

    • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.

    • Ambition to progress toward professional qualifications (e.g., MRICS).

      What’s on Offer
      • Competitive salary in the range of £30,000 – £40,000, depending on experience.

      • Ongoing training and career progression opportunities.

      • Exposure to unique, high-value conversion projects in Suffolk.

      • A supportive team culture that encourages professional growth.
