Summary

Proposals Manager

Exciting opportunity for a Proposals Writer/manager to join a large tier 1 main contractor in their Residential division based in the City of London.

About the role of Proposals Manager

We are seeking a Proposals Manager to support our growing bid pipeline, with a particular emphasis on high quality bid writing emphasis and bid coordination. This role is crucial to ensuring our submissions are compelling, compliant, and aligned with our brand & values.

Managing the production of high-quality professional submission documents for all bids: managing bidding process and developing customer specific styles for each submission.

As a group, we have a business turnover of £2bn+ with over 6000 employees across the board, working across various sectors.

We are looking for someone who has experience in Proposals, with strong & creative writing skills ideally with Residential or Developer experience.

Responsibilities for Proposals Manager

  • Ensure all bid deadlines are met, lead the development of written content for EOI's, SQ's, ITT's, and RFP's
  • Manage all graphic design input & content into bids
  • Write persuasive, creative, compelling, factual and focused responses for bid opportunities including presentations and other quality related activities. Ensure all written content is aligned with our businesses tone of voice, brand, and inclusive values
  • Check the quality & consistency of responses in terms of themes, messages, key phrases and key words. Contribute & develop win themes, value propositions, and bid strategy sessions
  • Manage bid portals (e.g, uploading documents, tracking deadlines, monitoring clarifications). Responsible for the quality / presentation of the overall document
  • Produce mini customer plans
  • Develop library of stock answers
  • Regular meetings with Proposals Managers / DTP from other offices to ensure best practice
  • Establish lines of communication with relevant Wates staff/departments to ensure access to accurate and up-to-date company information on structure, accounts, safety stats etc. Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate technical input into clear, engaging narratives
  • Use salesforce and other internal systems to track opportunities and maintain bid records
  • Challenge and refine content to ensure clarity, impact and differentiation

Requirements for Proposals Manager

  • Proven experience within the pre-construction environment working on a variety of project types, sizes and procurement routes
  • Ideally Residential or development experience
  • Excellent writing skills - grammar, structure, and creative storytelling
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign/Adobe packages
  • Strong stakeholder management - confident engaging with a wide range of internal teams
  • Collaborative and people oriented - a natural communicator who builds rapport easily
  • Inclusive mindset - able to write with sensitivity and awareness of diverse audiences
  • Critical thinking - able to challenge and improve content constructively
