I’m looking for a positive, upbeat, and energetic Personal Assistant who genuinely enjoys helping others, has a cheerful outlook, and loves dogs. The role involves a mix of practical support – such as managing paperwork (bills, changing suppliers, organising appointments, etc.) – and occasional help around the house.

Beyond the practical side, I’m also looking for someone who can support me in getting more out of life. I’m sociable, curious, and excited to try new things – from hobbies to day trips – but I sometimes struggle with confidence due to past mental health challenges and I don’t want that to hold me back anymore.

Ideally, you’ll have experience supporting people with mental health difficulties and will know how to strike a balance: someone who’s encouraging and adventurous on the good days, but patient and supportive when things feel tougher.

A love of dogs is essential, as my friendly dog will sometimes be with me during our sessions.

If you're kind, proactive, and enjoy making a positive difference in someone’s day-to-day life, I’d love to hear from you.

Duties include:
- Other relevant duties as required
- Companionship
- To accompany and support me when accessing the community and activities that I enjoy e.g. swimming, pottery, arts and crafts.
- To help me find and access new activities, if they take my interest and meaningful activities, such as voluntary opportunities

Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Must be comfortable with pets
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
- Be friendly with a good sense of humour and be a good sympathetic listener.
- I like to walk and can do so at quite a fast pace, so must be fit enough for this.
- Be a good motivator.

Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
