Summary
The post holder will be a key part of the Light Aid Detachment (LAD) team, working within the Armoury. Key duties include (but are not limited to):
The inspection and repair of weapons and ancillary items. Maintaining associated records in line with current legislation and MOD policy
Responsible for maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring accurate stock records and secure handling of items
Maintain accurate records of safety procedures, inspections, and audits in accordance with Ministry of Defence policies and guidance. Ensure documentation is up to date, securely stored, and available to internal and external stakeholders as required
Responsibility for the security of weapons, parts and associated equipment in the post-holder’s care during the working day in line with current legislation and MOD policy
You’ll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a range of small arms weaponry and mechanical equipment. This includes repairing and replacing parts, making minor adjustments, and keeping accurate records of all work carried out
Liaise with and provide technical advice, support and Equipment Care (EC) to units as required ensuring overarching compliance with all relevant legislation and MOD policy
Level 1 & 2 maintenance of all small arms including of Non-Service Pattern Light Weapons (NSPLW), instruments and miscellaneous mechanical equipment in line with current policy and procedures. Ensuring your working practises comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act
Out of Hours cover for the maintenance of priority weapons outside of normal working hours attracting an on-call allowance
Using your practical skills and IT knowledge, you’ll work closely with colleagues and other teams across NIGSU to help ensure everything runs smoothly and safely in a busy and fast-moving environment using mandated IT resources such as Equipment Support Management Information Systems to support maintenance and compliance activities
The control of COSHH items associated to maintain the integrity of the armourers’ workshop in line with current legislation and MOD policy.
