Summary

Personal Care Assistant Role
Ref: DP/GA08
Location: Appleton area, Warrington
Rate of Pay: £12.60 per hour
Hours: 5 hours per week – extremely flexible to suit the PA
We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support an 8-year-old non-verbal boy with hydrocephalus, global developmental delay, and TOFs.
Despite being non-verbal, he communicates well by pointing to things he likes. He is a happy child who enjoys using his walker and wheelchair. He can be a little stubborn at times, but we are keen to help him explore the world and enjoy more outings.
He loves nursery rhymes, especially those sung using Makaton.
The child is able to step into a car and turn into his seat with support. He is very small for his age, so gentle handling is essential.
Duties include:
Supporting the child to access the community, e.g. picking him up from home and taking him to the cinema, sensory centres, accessible parks, or out for ice cream
Providing personal care if required (he uses pads due to incontinence and may need changing during outings)
Personal Requirements:
Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a car with business insurance
Experience in a similar role is preferable
Familiarity with Makaton is desirable
A DBS check is required (provided free of charge)
