The Opportunity
Please note due to the nature of the client, we are looking to speak to people with a background in engineering and manufacturing, preferably automotive. The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Programme. Collaborating closely with the Senior Programme Manager and delivery partners (Business, IT, and vendors), they ensure seamless alignment between technical teams and business objectives to deliver effective PLM implementation and adoption. Key responsibilities include establishing robust methodologies and governance, creating integrated delivery plans, and maintaining critical controls such as RAIDD and status reporting. The Project Manager will coordinate across internal and external teams, combining structured thinking with a results-driven mindset to consistently achieve impactful outcomes.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Project Delivery: Manage the PLM Programme projects, from initiation and planning
- through to execution, monitoring, and closure. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, maintaining a clear focus on business outcomes.
- Governance and Methodology: Ensure the PLM Programme is aligned to established PMO governance frameworks, standards, and methodologies to ensure consistency, structure, and effective control across all assigned projects.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Lead cross-functional project teams that may include internal staff, contractors, and third-party vendors. Ensure clarity in roles and responsibilities and foster a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders across AML to ensure project alignment with business objectives, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain open, transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks, dependencies, and issues. Develop and execute mitigation strategies to minimise project disruption and ensure timely delivery.
- Resource Coordination: Plan and coordinate resources for each project, including internal teams and external suppliers. Monitor capacity and ensure effective utilisation across all contributors.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes, tools, and practices. Provide feedback to the PMO to support continuous improvement.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage project budget, ensuring financial control and transparency. Track project financials and report regularly on performance against budget.
- Performance Reporting: Provide regular project status updates, dashboards, and reports to stakeholders and the PMO, highlighting progress, risks, decisions, and outcomes.
- Change Enablement: Support change management and adoption activities associated with the project, ensuring new solutions are embraced and embedded successfully into business operations.
- The role requires effective self-management with minimal supervision. The job holder is responsible for managing the time, activities, and deliverables of cross-functional project teams, including internal staff, contractors, and external suppliers. While the role does not include direct line management, it involves matrix management of external implementation partners and contract resources.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Project Management Experience: Proven experience in successfully delivering complex IT projects, including cross-functional and cross-organizational coordination. Strong track record in managing projects involving both internal resources and external partners or vendors.
- Structured and Results-Oriented Mindset: Demonstrated ability to manage complexity with a structured, methodical approach while maintaining a strong focus on execution and results.
- Risk and Issue Management: Strong capability to proactively identify and manage project risks and issues, developing actionable mitigation strategies and ensuring effective issue resolution.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with diverse business units and technical teams. Proven ability to build relationships and align stakeholders with varying interests.
- Budget and Resource Management: Experience planning and managing project budgets, as well as coordinating internal and external resources to ensure efficient delivery.
- Process-Oriented Delivery: Familiarity with structured project management practices, including governance models, reporting standards, and quality assurance mechanisms.
- Experience in Digital Transformation Projects: Experience delivering IT-enabled business change, particularly in automotive, manufacturing, or similarly complex environments.
It’s great if you also have the following
- Expertise in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid Methodologies: Familiarity with multiple delivery frameworks and the ability to select or adapt the right approach for the project context.
- Enterprise Level Applications Experience: Exposure to projects involving ERP (SAP, Infor LN, Microsoft Dynamics) and Product Lifecycle Management, especially in manufacturing or automotive environments.
- Vendor and Contract Management: Experience working with external suppliers, managing contracts, and ensuring delivery against agreed scope, timelines, and SLAs.
- Change Management Awareness: Experience supporting the adoption of new systems, tools, or processes through change enablement practices.
- Automotive experience: Automotive or manufacturing industry experience is preferred and would be a strong advantage
