Summary

Are you ready to advance your engineering career with one of the UK's leading power network providers? At UK Power Networks, we are seeking an EHV Project Construction Engineer SAP to support our Capital Programme and Procurement team based in Guildford, or via distributed working arrangements. This permanent position offers you the chance to make a significant impact on vital infrastructure projects, helping to deliver safe, reliable power to millions.

Imagine working in a role where your expertise directly shapes the future of national energy infrastructure. Your contribution will be central to the delivery of engineering activities within a dynamic project team, focused on construction requirements for our owned assets and associated infrastructure. As the cornerstone of project delivery, you will closely collaborate with Project Managers, Commissioning Engineers, and Investment Delivery teams to meet business objectives and future budgets. You will ensure capital works are executed efficiently, maintain high standards of safety, and guarantee that our ambitious goals-especially in staff engagement and client satisfaction-are consistently achieved.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering construction programmes for assets operating at voltages from 400V to 132kV. Working alongside Project Managers, Supervisors, and EHV fitters, you'll keep projects on track for time, budget, and quality. You'll handle electrical engineering activities, manage budgets, maintain compliance with health and safety policies, and oversee both reactive and planned construction. Your technical knowledge will help you operate HV Distribution Protection Systems, carry out fault investigation and repairs, and modify equipment to keep substations running efficiently. Managing daily construction, coordinating with clients and principal contractors, supporting procurement, and supervising team members and contractors will all be part of your remit. Should you deputise for the Construction Manager, your leadership and communication will keep your team motivated and informed.

Your expertise will be crucial when it comes to identifying risks and opportunities, responding to system faults-even outside normal hours-and ensuring every aspect of our construction activities upholds the UK Power Networks Stay Safe initiative. You will also act as the technical point of reference, provide support to project stakeholders, and ensure rigorous compliance with all H&S policies and Distribution Safety Rules.

If you are an experienced Senior Authorised Person (preferably at 132kV or 33kV, though we will provide the training if you're authorised at 11kV), have strong experience in distribution systems up to 132kV, and possess at least an HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, we'd love to hear from you. Holding a full driving licence is essential, and knowledge of Building Services Systems, CDM Regulations, and a relevant safety qualification will be an advantage.

We offer a highly competitive salary of £80,574, plus car or car allowance, a 3% bonus, 23 days' annual leave (plus bank holidays), additional reservist leave, Simply Health/Private Medical cover, an outstanding 8-10% employer pension contribution, and a range of flexible, tax-efficient benefits. Enjoy discounted gym membership, tenancy loan deposit and season ticket loan schemes, and access to our Switched On discount portal. Your wellbeing is our priority, supported by Occupational Health and an Employee Assistance Programme.

Take the next step in your career and make a tangible difference. Apply by 10/10/2025 and help us power the future. Successful candidates will be required to complete a medical and DBS reference check. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
