About Prevalent Care Limited: Prevalent Care is a dedicated family support service with a core mission to bridge the gap between families and the complex legal and social care systems they navigate. We provide essential early intervention services across Dorset, working to safeguard children and empower parents.
Our approach is rooted in being trauma-informed, child-focused, and non-judgmental. We believe in every family's potential and work collaboratively with solicitors, social workers, and local authorities to build resilience and foster safe family connections. As a non-residential service, our focus is on delivering expert support through supervised contact, advocacy, assessments, and tailored parenting programmes.
About the Role
We are seeking an inspiring and relatable Youth Mentor to provide one-to-one support for young people facing challenges related to family change or social care involvement. You will build a positive, trusting relationship, acting as a role model and helping them develop confidence, resilience, and life skills. This role is perfect for a creative and patient individual who is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain a positive mentoring relationship with assigned young people.
Plan and undertake regular one-to-one sessions focused on the young person’s goals.
Support young people in developing social skills, emotional literacy, and self-esteem.
Help them engage with education, positive activities, and community resources.
Work within strict safeguarding guidelines and report any concerns immediately.
What You’ll Need
A minimum of 1 year's experience working directly with young people (aged 10-18) in a mentoring, youth work, or support capacity.
A strong ability to build rapport and trust with young people from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of the challenges facing vulnerable adolescents.
An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one) and a full UK driving licence.
Please note: (We do not offer sponsorship). Applicants must have the existing right to work in the UK.
Highly Desirable
A qualification in Youth Work, Counselling, or a related field.
Experience supporting young people who are in care or have experienced trauma.
What We Offer
Competitive pay based on your experience.
Where possible, consistent case allocation.
Comprehensive induction, safeguarding training, and ongoing supervision.
Clear boundaries and policies to support your professional work.
Opportunities for growth within a developing team.
