Summary


There is now a vacancy for a full time HCPC registered, Band 8a Quality Manager in the Blood Sciences Department working across all 3 of our sites. The successful candidate will be motivated, passionate and able to provide expert advice in all areas of quality within Blood Sciences with a primary focus on Blood Transfusion. Experience of MHRA inspections along with the ability to critically assess compliance of our current systems is essential.

You will work very closely with the Blood Sciences quality officer, the pathology quality team, departmental leads and the Blood Sciences management team to provide an integrated and robust quality system.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation and continual development of the Blood Transfusion Quality Management System, in collaboration with the Blood Sciences Manager and Transfusion Team and to ensure ongoing compliance with all required national and international standards (UKAS ISO15189 and BSQR).

The post holder will also work with the Pathology Quality Manager and Lead Biomedical Scientists to support the effective functioning and development of the Pathology Quality Management System to ensure compliance with all relevant national and international standards across Biochemistry and Haematology (UKAS ISO15189). The Quality Manager will support the development of the department and improve its efficiency and the quality of the service provided.

• Attendance at and participation in meetings in relation to quality, audit and improvement
• To prepare papers for Quality & Risk Management Committee meetings and Blood Transfusion Committee meetings
• To assist in the organisation of external assessment visits for Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry and Haematology.
• Ensure that new regulatory initiatives, evolving guidelines and changes in legislation that impact on the Blood Transfusion quality system and subsequent operations are communicated to the Quality Team and Service Managers
• To lead the completion of the annual Blood Compliance Reports to the MHRA
• Assist the Principal Biomedical Scientist & Pathology Service Manager with the Annual Management Review process for Pathology within the remit of the post.
