Summary


The Legal and Governance team wishes to appoint a motivated new member of staff who is proficient in administration, organising meetings, producing documents, has an excellent eye for detail and who is keen to learn. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated administrator to join the newly enlarged Legal and Governance team and is a pivotal role in supporting the University’s governance activities and its Board of Governors

About the role

You will work under the direction of the Board Governance Manager – interfacing with the Board of Governors, senior University staff including the University Registrar and Secretary, and the Head of Legal and Governance, to provide an effective and flexible administrative service.

Principally providing administrative services to the University’s Board of Governors, the role will be varied and will include a wide range of administrative tasks including the preparation and circulation of meeting papers, the co-ordination of calendars and diary management, scheduling of annual cycles of meetings, online questionnaires, booking travel and accommodation, raising purchase orders and processing invoices

For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

What we’re looking for

You will have experience working as an administrator and be able to demonstrate relevant experience, skills or training related to the role, including accuracy and an eye for detail, the organisation of meetings, producing minutes in an accurate and timely manner, processing and distribution of documents, collating data and communicating with stakeholders, customers and colleagues.

You will be expected to have proven communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. You will need to evidence your effective verbal and written communication skills, including your understanding of the importance of handling confidential information. You will also be expected to provide wider support to the Legal and Governance team, including supporting the legal team’s case management and information rights request processes.

About us

This is a part-time position working 29.6 hours per week on a permanent basis. Normal working hours will be between Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, however due to the nature of the role, flexibility is required as to when hours are worked as these may change due to the cyclical demands of the role. Any variation to working hours will be discussed and agreed well in advance of the anticipated requirement.

The role will also allow for some remote working, one day per week, but the actual day will need to vary to meet the needs of the business.

The post will be located in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, at 18 Portland Villas on the main Plymouth campus. Travel between sites may be required.
