Would you like to support the provision of a quality assurance service for a brand-new state of the art Section 10 Aseptic Services Unit? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist to join us as a Senior Aseptic Services Pharmacist
At Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GWH) we have a clear commitment to transform our aseptic service provision into a patient centered, resilient and reactive service which will support the national agenda for Aseptic Services Transformation. Currently in the final validation stages, two new Section 10 cleanrooms will soon be open to support the delivery of high cost, short expiry, agile chemotherapy provision and future unmet patient need.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of implementing a new aseptic service from the ground up.
Progression roles form band 6 to band 7 will be considered for pharmacists with an interest in aseptic services where all criteria are not met.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
Act as an Authorised Pharmacist for the day-to-day supervision of the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit (PASU) to ensure all products prepared and released are in compliance with Department Standards, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
Work with the Accountable pharmacist to ensure, maintain and develop facilities, equipment and work practices to achieve the highest technical standards
To work closely with the pharmacy aseptic services technical team and pharmacy cancer team to co-ordinate treatment provision to the Day Therapy Unit, haematology inpatient unit and other medical wards requiring high risk injectable medicines.

Act as an Authorised Pharmacist and supervise day-to-day preparation of products and release for use in accordance with local, regional and national guidelines.
To ensure Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit is operating in accordance with current legislation and guidance including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Distribution Practice (GDP), Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services, RPSGB Code of Ethics, Health and Safety, Medicines Act, COSHH and Departmental Procedures.
To be able to perform final release of products purchased as unlicensed ready to administer doses from Specials Manufacturers, and maintain competence in this area.
To be fully aware of the processes used to accurately and consistently prepare, dispense and release a wide range of aseptic products including cytotoxics, epidurals, intrathecals, antibiotics, parenteral
nutrition, high risk injectables and novel agents.
To provide specialised and often complex technical advice to service users (prescribers, nursing, pharmacy and patients) as necessary e.g. suitability of diluents, volume of diluents, administration routes, stability and storage conditions.
