Waltham Forest Children Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) are looking for 3 motivated and skilled Band 6 Clinicians to join our busy Access Team on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. In this role, the successful candidates will be part of a team operating as the "front door" of Specialist CAMHS. They will be responsible for working on a duty system to respond to new referrals into the service; prioritising and responding to risk; ensuring that young people and families are supported to be able to access the service and addressing any potential barriers. Effective communication, time management and decision-making skills are essential.
The post holder would be expected to conduct holistic assessments of young people who may be experiencing mental health needs or neurodevelopmental difficulties, including an assessment of their mental health, risk to self and/or others, possible safeguarding risks, social circumstances and relationships. They will use this information to work with other professionals to develop a formulation of the young person's difficulties to identify those who may require additional support, either within CAMHS or from other agencies or services. The post holder will also offer brief evidence-based interventions to young people during the assessment period. This may include direct sessions with young people, either in the clinic or in other community locations, or the provision of resources and signposting to other agencies.
