Summary

Role Summary To autonomously assess, investigate, diagnose, treat and refer or discharge children and young people attending the Emergency Department. This is carried out within the parameters of the Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs) scope of practice and Trust guidelines. To have accountability, authority and responsibility to ensure a high quality patient centred service. To be an effective role model and provide clinical expertise within the department. To provide specialist knowledge to patients and staff in practical and theoretical aspects of paediatric injuries in the Emergency Department. Where appropriate to work within the CED team on professional nursing issues and management of clinical governance issues To participate in educational and training programmes for junior members of the team, including doctors within the department. To support the Matron and senior sisters/charge nurses to ensure that high quality patient focused care is delivered within the Childrens Emergency Department (CED). The post holder will be required to work flexibly to achieve the key responsibilities of the post. Key Working Relationships All CED clerical, nursing and medical staff Speciality Doctors including orthopaedic, ENT, Maxillofacial and surgical. Band 7 Ward Managers, Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital CAMHS Liaison Services, Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust (SPFT) Safeguarding Team, Social Care Services, Sussex wide.
