Summary

Key Responsibilties Clinical Duties and Responsibilities for Clinic Up to date proficient Scrub skills for high volume cataract surgery. Full understanding of Phaco Machines/Instrumentation and set up Full knowledge of the eye and understanding of Biometry/Lens bank/Implants Working as part of a theatre team including covering / supporting the admissions & discharge team Ability to support the surgeon anticipating any potential problems in theatre and resolve them Liaise with stores to ensure that the correct consumables are in place in terms of specific types and quantity to ensure smooth running theatre Administrative Duties To keep accurate patient health records, updating electronic patient records or completing handwritten clinical notes. Ensure that any incidents are reported in a timely manner via our governance portal. Complete any audits assigned to you on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis. Ensure that any documentation is uploaded to the systems, eg daily task sheets, daily cleaning sheets. To conduct post operative calls to patients within 24-hours of their surgery, escalating any clinical concerns where necessary. The Scrub Nurse will be a member of the out of hours on-call team, participating on a rotational basis, which is remunerated. Professional Duties To work within the requirements of the code of practice and standard of the Nursing and Midwifery Council. To be responsible for and demonstrate commitment to Continuing Professional Development and Clinical Governance. To participate in training and development of clinical and other groups of staff. To participate in clinical audit and research projects, as required.
