Summary

Be the Voice of Social Care Careers in Blaenau Gwent

Are you a dynamic communicator with a passion for people and purpose? Blaenau Gwent Social Services is seeking a creative and driven individual to step into the spotlight as our Career Promotion Officer — a full-time maternity cover opportunity where you’ll lead exciting campaigns, build powerful partnerships, and help shape the future of social care recruitment.

About the role

As Career Promotion Officer, you’ll be right at the centre of our efforts to champion careers in social care across Blaenau Gwent. Whether it’s writing eye-catching job adverts, running creative digital campaigns, or organising inspiring career events, your work will help people discover the rewarding opportunities that exist in social care — and feel confident about pursuing them.

You’ll be working closely with the Workforce Development Service and Social Services management, making sure our career promotion efforts are aligned with local priorities and have real impact. You’ll be the go-to person for all things promotion, leading on:

Designing and delivering recruitment campaigns that stand out
Creating engaging digital content, including videos and social media posts
Coordinating career fairs, school visits, and outreach events that make a real impact
Building strong relationships with key partners like Social Care Wales, DWP, schools, colleges, and universities
Developing fresh, useful resources like Padlets, guides, and toolkits
Keeping an eye on campaign performance and sharing insights to help us improve

This is a fixed-term maternity cover role, giving you the chance to take the lead on exciting, high-impact projects. You’ll be part of a friendly, forward-thinking team that’s passionate about making a difference — and you’ll play a key role in helping people find meaningful, people-focused careers in social care.

About You

You’re a creative, confident communicator who’s passionate about helping people find fulfilling careers. You know how to turn ideas into action — whether that’s writing a standout job advert, planning a buzzing careers fair, or building a toolkit that makes someone’s job search easier. You’re digitally savvy, comfortable using social media and online platforms to reach different audiences, and you enjoy experimenting with new ways to get messages across.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

Have experience in marketing, communications, recruitment, or a similar field
Enjoy creating content — from short videos to social posts and written guides
Are organised and able to manage multiple projects at once
Feel confident working with a range of people, from school staff to national partners
Can spot opportunities to improve how we promote careers and aren’t afraid to try something new
Are comfortable using tools like Canva, Padlet, and basic video editing software
Understand the importance of social care and want to help others see its value

Most importantly, you’re someone who cares about making a difference. You’ll bring energy, ideas, and a people-first approach to everything you do — helping us show that a career in care isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to change lives.
