TeacherActive is working in partnership with a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Bristol to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them to access the English curriculum, improve their literacy, and achieve academic success.
This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to extend or become permanent. As an English Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with English teachers and the wider support team to deliver tailored interventions and in-class support, particularly for students who may be working below expected levels or need additional encouragement.
Key Responsibilities:-
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students in English lessons

Support students with literacy interventions, reading comprehension, writing skills, and exam preparation

Assist in adapting resources to suit a range of learning abilities and needs

Help build confidence and motivation in students who find English challenging

Collaborate with class teachers and SEN teams to monitor progress

Contribute to a positive, engaging classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:-
Experience supporting students in English or literacy-focused settings

A strong understanding of the English curriculum (KS3 and KS4)

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young people

A patient, encouraging, and proactive approach to learning support

Relevant qualifications or experience (e.g., degree in English, TA qualification, tutoring background)

Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
