Role Overview

We are recruiting for an experienced team leader to join the Valuation Office Agency’s National Valuation Unit (NVU) which is responsible for the valuation of some of the most highly specialised and high value properties. This role sits within our Leisure & Civic team, which deals with the non-domestic rating of the sporting, entertainment, hospitality and tourism classes on the leisure side and public sector occupied classes on the civic side, including NHS, emergency services and Local Authority occupations.

You will lead a geographically dispersed and multi-skilled team of valuers, encouraging collaboration and inclusion to ensure effective communication, sharing of ideas and continuous improvement. You will be accountable for managing and achieving the team’s strategic and operational objectives. As a key member of our leadership team, you’ll bring your passion and enthusiasm for leadership to develop our future leaders, identifying opportunities for development, growth, and improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a team of valuers within the Leisure & Civic Team, providing technical leadership, guidance and support.
  • Monitor operational performance of the team against strategic targets and objectives, identifying issues and making recommendations on action to be taken.
  • Be pro-active in managing risks, anticipating issues and understanding underlying causes before providing solutions.
  • Manage resource identifying where resource can be redeployed to support meeting of operational objectives.
  • Provide regular coaching and development discussions with direct reports, ensuring that development plans are in place and actively managed.
  • Create and promote an inclusive working environment that values everyone for their individual contributions.
  • Engage and support the team through change by communicating the need for change, identifying and promoting potential benefits, and ensuring the team feel involved in the development of change plans.
