Summary
The following are the core responsibilities of the practice nurse to carry out competently without direct supervision following practice protocols, Childhood immunisations Travel vaccinations Cervical cytology Spirometry ECG Health promotion Chronic disease management including Diabetes care Contraception and sexual health advice Health checks Weight Management Blood pressure checks Provision of simple wound care and removal of sutures Chaperoning other clinicians when required Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate treatment programs that promote health and well-being Proactively identify, diagnose and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition Work with other health care professionals to diagnose, monitor, manage and treat long-term condition Work with patients in order to support adherence to prescribed treatments Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote them to live healthily, and apply principles of self-care Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children. Carry out new patient checks Lead on infection control measures within the Practice, and educate colleagues in adopting sound infection control measures Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required Maintaining the cold chain and fridge temperatures Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses room Ordering of Health Promotion Literature Ordering of stock Actioning laboratory results in accordance with practice protocol. Participation in administrative systems in the Practice Attend and participate in any Practice Meetings when required Undertake home visits as required eg for vaccinations Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
