Working arrangements: Hybrid – a minimum of 50% of the time in the office

The role:

The team are seeking a Disrepair Supervisor / Case Handler to manage the caseload for the disrepair surveying team accountable for responsive repairs to the council's stock of dwellings, buildings and land managed by Landlord Services.

You will be an experienced and results-driven leader in housing maintenance and responsive repairs, with a proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and complex cases including disrepair and litigation as well as being skilled in performance management, compliance, project delivery, and customer service, with strong technical knowledge and a commitment to value-for-money solutions and safety standards.



Key Responsibilities:

Reviewing Particulars of Claims submitted as disrepair claims against the council, monitoring progress from start to completion, ensuring delivery of high-quality work and getting work done
Achieving high customer satisfaction within budgetary targets and providing a cost effective, value for money service
Case handlers will be required to attend court on an ad-hoc basis. Court attendance to act as a witness to defend disrepair claims will be required as part of the role
Maintain day-to-day supervision administration staff in the team
Act as lead consultant providing expert witness advice and reports to a range of officers in relation to technical housing matters, including PAD applications, FOIs, SARs, EIR’s, Ombudsman reports, Disrepair claims, and complaints, and Accident Litigation claims



What the client is looking for:

Experienced leader with a strong background in supervising multidisciplinary teams within responsive repairs and housing maintenance. Skilled in performance management, staff development, and delivering high standards of customer service
Possesses deep technical knowledge of housing repairs, legal compliance, and complex case handling including disrepair claims and litigation
Demonstrated success in managing contractors, overseeing project delivery, and ensuring works are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Proficient in using housing systems and scheduling tools to track progress and outcomes
Experienced in financial oversight, resource planning, and promoting value-for-money solutions
Committed to compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and environmental standards
Strong communicator with excellent report writing and customer engagement skills
