Summary

Lead IT Service Manager

Paying up to £80,267, plus 28.97% employer pension contributions, hybrid working, flexible hours, and great work life balance.

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

We are looking for a Lead IT Service Manager to join our growing ITSM teams in leading a large migration programme from our legacy products.

Our teams use fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, the problems we have to solve are rich and complex, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Experience of working with Networks, Application Support and Agile Delivery Squads
  • Experience of implementation, negotiation and delivery across all levels of a complex multi-stakeholder environment
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of common integration technologies; namely Application Programme Interface (APIs), File Transfer and Events
  • Experience of delivering the migration from legacy products to strategic solutions.
  • Experience in utilising Service Management frameworks ( ITIL4, Agile Service Management).
  • ITIL4 or other service management framework qualification
  • Experience in leading the delivery and management of complex technical change initiatives-such as on-premise and cloud-hosted solutions-and in developing and maintaining technical capability across projects and throughout the service lifecycle.

You and your role

As Lead IT Service Manager, you will be responsible for driving the migration of DWP Digital Integration customers from legacy products to strategic solutions, or overseeing their decommissioning.

You will define and lead the migration strategy, ensuring minimal disruption to live services and effective collaboration with Application Support and Integration Live Service teams.

You will coordinate service transitions with Other Government Departments and external partners, managing resources across projects, service teams, and suppliers. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication will be key to success.

You will proactively identify and resolve issues, presenting informed options to Product and Senior Product Owners. You will lead a small team, providing technical direction and acting as an escalation point to ensure delivery capability across Integration's legacy products.

Details. Wages. Perks.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Newcastle or Manchester, whichever is more convenient for you.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and sometime collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pay: We offer pay up to £80,267.

Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth up to £21,735 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days and rising to 31 days over time.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.

We have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:

  • An award-winning environment and culture: Employer of the Year 2023 (Women In IT Awards), Founders Award for Outstanding Digital Leadership 2023 (Digital 100)
  • Flexible working including flexible hours and flex-friendly policies
