Our client has been a trusted name in the manufacture of power transmission components since 1870. With over 150 years of expertise, a loyal customer base worldwide, and a dedicated team of 60 staff at their Birmingham site, they combine tradition with innovation to drive future growth.
As part of their exciting development plans, they are looking for a motivated Sales Engineer to join their close-knit Sales department. In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for customers, building lasting relationships, understanding their needs, and providing accurate and competitive solutions from the company’s well-regarded product range.
Are you the right person for the job?
• Experience working with bespoke computer systems
• Understanding the company product range and/or the wider power transmission sector
• Good knowledge of typical customer types and their commercial needs
• Strong communication skills at all levels
• Professional and courteous manner with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
• Excellent telephone manner and PC literacy
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
• Experience with Zoho software is an advantage
• Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic
• Determined, adaptable, and able to embrace change with a positive attitude
What will your role look like?
• Responding to sales enquiries via phone and email
• Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Producing accurate and competitive quotations
• Providing up-to-date information on stock, availability, and pricing
• Entering and tracking all enquiries and quotes on the system daily
• Liaising with key suppliers for products outside of in-house manufacture
• Accurately entering and progressing sales orders
• Proactively updating customers on order progress, delivery changes, or delays
• Working closely with internal sales, technical, and production teams
• Communicating market and competitor activity
• Contributing to increasing order intake and overall sales
• Following company procedures, quality standards, and policies
