We are seeking a passionate and motivated Kitchen Manager to lead our school catering operation. Your primary focus will be delivering nutritious, high-quality food that supports the wellbeing and learning of our students.
You will oversee all aspects of kitchen management, ensuring compliance with food safety, health & safety, and company standards, while keeping within agreed budgets and targets.
As the first-line manager, you will inspire and motivate your team, ensuring they provide excellent customer service and maintain high food standards every day. Building strong relationships with students, staff, and clients will be at the heart of this role, helping to create a positive dining experience for all.
The Role
Lead and manage the school catering team on a daily basis.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, and safeguarding requirements.
Deliver high-quality, nutritious meals that meet cultural, dietary, and allergy requirements.
Manage stock, budgets, and financial reporting to agreed targets.
Drive standards in food presentation, customer service, and portion control.
Build strong relationships with clients, students, and colleagues.
Recruit, train, and motivate staff, ensuring regular communication and performance reviews.
Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Monitor and act on customer feedback to improve service.
About You
Experience as a Catering/Kitchen Manager, or potential to develop from a catering assistant role with training.
Strong knowledge of school catering, food preparation, and cooking skills.
Understanding of Health & Safety, food safety, and accident prevention.
Ability to manage budgets, stock, and profit & loss.
Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
IT literacy with kitchen systems (e.g. Cypad) or willingness to learn.
Strong customer service focus with the ability to build lasting relationships.
Positive, proactive, and hands-on attitude.
High energy, enthusiasm, and drive to achieve results.
