A bit about us
We're looking for a casual Veterinary Nurse to join the team at our Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, reporting to one of our Wildlife Centre Manager

Working hours: You will work ad hoc shifts during the week and at weekends.
This is a casual, zero hours contract and we are unable to guarantee, nor do we expect you to work, set hours or days. As such the role both requires, and offers maximum flexibility. Work will be on a casual basis and entails filling essential gaps and additional veterinary nursing needs as a result of annual leave, sickness or increased workload.
Our Veterinary Nurses are integral to the smooth running of the centre. The successful candidates will carry out nursing duties for a unique variety of animal welfare cases. The Centre admits up to 4000 wildlife casualties each year, plus we also admit and care for domestic and exotic admissions.

What a day might look like for you

Provide direct medical and surgical patient care.
Anaesthetic monitoring, perioperative nursing care and theatre practice.
Maintain up to date and accurate clinical records.
Dispense drugs in accordance with professional guidelines and clinic rules.
Maintaining a high level of clinical hygiene and biosecurity throughout the Centre.
Contributing to the training of student vets and vet nurses and providing Continuing Professional Development for Vets and VN in practice.
Undertaking continuing professional and personal development associated with the role.
Welfare and case work support.
What you'll bring:
Please only apply for this role if you are a fully qualified Vet Nurse with a current registration with the RCVS, along with proven previous experience of working in a relevant discipline, for example within a veterinary practice, wildlife rehabilitation centre, animal centre or similar.

Our Veterinary Nurses must also be able to demonstrate that they:

Have strong communication skills;
Are able to assess and make evidenced based clinical decisions;
Are able and willing to work autonomously and be an excellent team player;
Have strong prioritisation skills and are highly organised;
Are a strong problem solver, with a proven ability to use their initiative.
Successful candidates for certain RSPCA roles may need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
