Job Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable individual provide overnight support for a 14-year-old boy with complex health needs. The role involves remaining awake throughout the night to monitor his wellbeing, respond promptly to any changes in his condition, and ensure a safe and calm environment. This position is suitable for a qualified Nurse, Nursing Assistant, or someone willing to undertake training in clinical care tasks.
It is important that you are sensitive to the needs and boundaries of the family and are able to support the child’s parent when it comes to maintaining their structure and values.

Responsibilities
Overnight Monitoring:
• Remain awake and vigilant throughout the shift.
• Regularly observe breathing, comfort, and positioning.
• Monitor and record vital signs as per care plan.
Clinical Care (Training Provided if Needed):
• Manage and troubleshoot oxygen equipment.
• Perform suctioning safely and effectively as required.
• Provide gastrostomy (G-tube) feeds, water flushes, and medication administration according to protocol.
Care and Comfort:
• Support with repositioning, personal care, and continence needs.
• Ensure the child’s comfort and safety at all times.
• Respond calmly to any distress, alarms, or clinical incidents.
Record Keeping & Communication:
• Maintain accurate night-time care notes and handover information.
• Report any concerns or changes in condition to parents and relevant professionals.
Environment & Safety:
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised care space.
• Follow infection control and safeguarding procedures at all times.
Person Specification
Essential
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable individuals.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic IT skills for recording and reporting.
• Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding practices.
• Right to work in the UK (unfortunately we do not offer sponsorship).
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check.
• Confidence in working overnight and staying alert.
Desirable
• Previous experience in a care or support role.
• Experience with suction machines, oxygen therapy, or gastrostomy care.
• Experience in care, nursing assistance, or willingness to train in clinical tasks.
• Level 2 or above qualification in Health and Social Care (or working towards it).
• First Aid and Manual Handling training.
• Knowledge of person-centred care approaches.
• Understanding of specific needs (e.g., mental health, learning disabilities, autism, elderly care).
• Multilingual skills or cultural awareness (if relevant to client base).
