Summary
This is a Senior Clinical Fellow appointment in Emergency Medicine at the Royal Derby Hospital. The post will include an approximately 50:50 split of both clinical experience in the Emergency Department at the Royal Derby Hospital and dedicated time in palliative medicine. The post is intended to provide the clinician with Palliative Medicine experience and training. The post would be ideal for those who are a higher specialist trainee and seeking to improve their knowledge and experience in Palliative medicine. The department has a strong track record in supporting a wide range of trainees. Our range of innovative workforce solutions coupled with education, mentorship and support have received national recognition, including RCEM Clinical Team of the Year in 2017. This experience will be fully utilised to ensure that each successful applicant has individual support to ensure that their career aspirations are achieved. As part of this there will be a designated Educational Supervisor for the duration of the post. We would encourage the post holder to complete work based placed assessments to allow documentation of their own development. From a clinical perspective these posts will participate in the 24 hour Emergency Department rota with flexibility to accommodate individual personal requirements. The appointee will be expected to work as part of a team with a responsibility to maintain the highest standards of emergency clinical care. Active participation in internal supporting professional activities such as Departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit is essential. The post is initially offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months, at the end of which the appointee will return to their training programme. The appointee will initially be entitled to 27 to 32 days annual leave per annum, plus 8 Bank Holidays, dependent on experience (based on a 5 day working week).
