I am seeking a friendly, outgoing assistant to work with a creative and humorous 30-year-old man with learning difficulties in building confidence, independence, and a fulfilling daily life.

He is a talented artist with a love of trains, films, museums, and vintage culture. He thrives with someone who can be both a motivator and a buddy—encouraging him to try new things while offering steady emotional and practical support.

The role includes companionship on outings (cinema, pubs, theatres, places of interest), support with household tasks (batch cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry), and guidance with decision-making and social understanding.

He reads and writes well but often struggles with interpreting situations and needs clear, patient communication—ideally from someone whose first language is English.

He lives alone in central Worthing and benefits from consistent encouragement to stay active and engaged. A driver is preferred - as there will be times when you will be required to transport him in your own vehicle - though support on public transport is also important.

Experience with learning difficulties is helpful, but the right personality—fun, firm, and emotionally intuitive—is key

Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
