Summary

We are looking for a patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 class on a long-term temporary basis, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to a child’s learning journey in a friendly primary school environment.

Duties as SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils in Year 3 with special educational needs (SEN).

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external specialists to implement individual education plans (IEPs).

  • Adapt learning materials and activities to suit individual needs and promote inclusion.

  • Support students’ social, emotional and behavioural development to help them gain confidence and independence.

  • Assist with classroom preparation and maintain a positive, safe learning environment.

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children who have SEN (such as ASD, ADHD, or other learning differences) is highly desirable.

  • A caring and empathetic approach with excellent communication skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are an advantage, though strong practical experience will also be considered.
