Summary
The Senior Safeguarding Nurse / Practitioner role is a visible and knowledgeable resource and support to patient facing staff across the Trust for safeguarding children’s concerns. They will work alongside trust staff developing safeguarding competence and confidence with a focus on improving patient outcomes.
They will use their own robust knowledge to support staff through advice, guidance, supervision and training keeping the working together to safeguard children framework at the forefront of their interactions.
They will contribute to the safeguarding agenda through the provision of evidence based safeguarding advice, support, guidance, supervision and training for all disciplines of staff across all trust sites.
To deputise for the Operational Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Children.
Support Trust staff in the management of all aspects of complex and serious safeguarding children/young people.
To be a competent, knowledgeable, and visible practitioner, ensuring the provision of high-quality safeguarding children support for frontline practitioners.
Assess, implement, plan, and evaluate care and interventions for service users.
To complete safeguarding audits.
Maintain and develop own levels of specialist knowledge and skills.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies.
To escalate safeguarding concerns, internally and externally as per local, regional and National directives
Attend as required all appropriate safeguarding meetings, to advocate on behalf of service users, acting as a support to staff and as a representative of the Trust.
Utilising the Think Family approach to support managers and staff in the delivery of high- quality safeguarding care throughout the journey of the child, young person whilst in Hospital.
