Summary
Applications are invited for the role of Junior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to commence as soon as possible for a period of at least 12 months. The post is primarily based at Burnley General Hospital and the post holder will be required to take part in the first on-call rota, this will include BSOTS triage.
The Lancashire Women’s & Newborn Centre is located on the Burnley General site and we provide satellite clinics across East Lancashire to ensure ease of access for the local population. We provide a full range of clinics in both obstetrics and gynaecology and all senior members of the team have a sub speciality interest. We have an outstanding reputation as a training unit and this appointment offers exciting opportunities to expand your expertise and knowledge within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments.
Candidates must have full registration with the GMC and meet all the necessary requirements of the person specification.
The post is based at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and the post holder will be required to take part in the first on-call rota.
General Obstetric & Gynaecology duties which will include antenatal clinics, gynaecolgy clinics, including subspeciality exposure, assisting in obstetric/gynae theatre lists and labour ward/ Maternal assessment unit duties. You will also have the opportunity to attend special interest clinics

The post is classed as non training grade but the department is fully committed to provide equivalent level of training to the post holder with a named clinical supervisor and regular appraisals. You will gain excellent clinical experience and have the opportunity to further your skills and attend theatres.

We require a hard-working, committed doctor who works well within the wider team of doctors, midwives and specialist nurses and allied health professionals to deliver excellent care to our patients.
The successful candidate will see and plan care (supported by the Consultant) for obstetric in-patients, manage Labour Ward and attend Antenatal clinics including specialist clinics.
Gynaecology duties include care of in-patients, admissions to the Gynaecology Ward, perioperative care of patients and out-patient clinics (including specialist clinics in oncology, urogynaecology, endometriosis, colposcopy, and ambulatory gynaecology clinics). The outpatients and elective theatre sessions offer an ideal opportunity for teaching on a one-to-one basis and all consultants are keen to participate in what they consider an important part of their workload.
It is essential that you are computer literate and have excellent communication skills. All staff are encouraged to play an active role in audit and support the departmental research programmes.
On Call
The post holder will participate in a 1 in 9 1st on call rota. This will include BSOTS triage
