About the Employer
I require a kind and friendly PA to support my mother-in-law with lunch preparation and companionship 4 days per week; my mother-in-law is deaf so the main method of communication is by the written word. The days and times shown are one example but I am happy to agree an alternative rota for the right candidate. Please note my mother-in-law lives in a flat where the only access is up two flights of stairs.

About the Role
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
• My mother-in-law strives to manage herself so a tactful, understanding person is essential to carry out a discreet welfare check whilst providing support that lets her still retain her independence as much as possible.
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
Required Skills:
• Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
• To be able to work on own initiative.
• Be patient, supportive and caring.
• Have good listening skills and be able to provide non-judgemental emotional support.
• Be empathetic.
• Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
• A person with good written English as this is the main mode of communication with relevant working or life experience who understands the importance of support to enable and encourage rather than being unintentionally overbearing.
When you are Required:
Hours per week: 4
• Monday, 12.00pm/12.30pm - 1 hour
• Wednesday, 12.00pm/12.30pm - 1 hour
• Friday, 12.00pm/12.30pm - 1 hour
• Saturday, 12.00pm/12.30pm - 1 hour
